My wife talked me into writing a blog that deals with Male Infertility. The Elusive Male Perspective. Beyond that, simply enjoy and have fun with it!

Shakespeare in Denial

I know that it has been awhile since I posted anything. But I need to get your opinion on this statement Julie made in relationship to packing “THE” bag for the hospital.

“I will get around to it.”

At 37 weeks and 2 days and with her repeating this statement ever since our last child birth class, not to mention that 2 days ago we were “FULL term”.

Trust me I have no problem with procrastination every time I look at a diet plan I recite in my best Shakespearian accent “Once more unto the breach, dear friends, once more!” Your right, I’m not sure how it relates, but it sounds good when I bellow it while leaping from the Kitchen to the living room couch with a plate of Pizza rolls.

To uphold our family motto of
“Love, Honor and Constant Vigilance”
I call upon you good citizens
To rise above your common day,
proclaim to Julie on her blog
that the time is right to strike down
the tyranny of procrastination,
Leap from thine denial of birthing process,
seize hold of the reigns of labor prep
We few, we happy few, we band of brothers;
For he to-day that sheds his blood with me
Shall be my brother; be he ne'er so vile,
This day shall gentle his condition;
And gentlemen in England now-a-bed
Shall think themselves accurs'd they were not here,
And hold their manhoods cheap whiles any speaks
That fought with us upon Saint Crispin's day.
Or the day we stood up to Julie and told her to

PACK THE BAGS!!!

  1. You crack me up with every post! I can barely believe that you guys are already at full term... It seems like just yesterday that you announced the pregnancy. Wow!

    So, um, the bags, yeah. about that. I started wondering about all the reasons that she may be procrastinating about packing. I came up with more than a few theories. But then I started wondering about why JULIE has to pack the bags... I mean, she is gearing up for LABOR, you know...

    Maybe packing the bags is a job that DADDY should take on. The hospital gave you a list of things to pack, right? So it is totally a daddy size job :)

    Another daddy job will be to keep us all posted as things progress in these final weeks. So exciting.

  2. Actually I did start packing. But that was interpreted as getting nervous and of course I was packing the wrong things. So unless she wants a pair cycle shorts and a tube toop fro the 80's she needs to decide on what she wants.

  3. bicycle shorts and a tube top....yeah she'll fit right in, in labor & delivery! LOL

    I think that both of you should share the packing :)

  4. In the end, I know we will as we have shared everything that can possible be shared through this pregnancy, including her forcing me to do things with watermelons that are unnatural.

  6. I know that this comment is late - but I sure hope sh's gotten her bag packed.. or at least will be understanding if she goes into labor and none of the things she wants are in the bag. On the positive side, you'll probably have time to pack it while she's in labor if she chooses to procrastinate that long ;-)
